TouchScreen Technologies

Timeout device for Kiosks

Touchscreen monitors generally use one of three different touch technologies: capacitive, resistive or surface acoustic wave (SAW). Capacitive and resistive both rely on overlays - tiny sensors on the screen that detect touch. These types of screens are very popular and have been around for a long time. We've configured allot of kiosks using these applications, but the latest and greatest technology is sound acoustic wave. These screens rely on sound waves rather than on overlays, so the image quality and reliability is excellent. Furthermore, they are "drift-free" - meaning that they never need to be recalibrated. The cursor will always appear exactly where your finger touches.

At CheapKiosks, we buy our touchmonitors directly from Taiwanese manufacturers. We do not hold inventory, so it may take a little longer (sometimes 3-weeks) to get your monitor, but you'll save allot of money because there is no importer marking up the cost of your monitor. For clients "in-a-rush" we can get monitors from Elo TouchSystems or other U.S. vendors, but be prepared to pay more. Convenience does have a price.
